Plus, you never know what happened to your mattress before you came. Most universities change their mattresses every eight years.

No need to even mention why this is essential. If you live in a dorm, trash cans are not provided. Buy one or share one with your roommate.

Another item on the list that you can buy with your roommate. When one of you needs sleep but the other still has to study.

If you do a lot of studying, then you know sitting at a regular desk for a long time will be both uncomfortable and cause long-term health problems.

An iPad is the best way to take notes in college. It will keep all your thoughts organized in one place you can fall back on later.

If you can’t afford an iPad or you just prefer analog over digital, get one notebook for everything. Avoid clutter as much as possible.

If you decide to get an iPad then you’ll definitely need a pen for it. It makes writing lecture notes a seamless task.

Great for over-optimizers. Picking up your phone every time you want to check if you’re on schedule can end up wasting a lot of your time. especially considering the number of distractions available on there.

If you have a lot of devices, this will help keep everything organized and increase your productivity.

Either bring towels from home or just buy a new set. Just make sure to have some towels with you before going off to college. 

Not as essential as other items on our list but definitely a nice addition if you want to keep your bathroom organized.
